Full Tilt Poker Saga Hurts Whole E-Gaming Sector

The tribulations being faced by Full Tilt Poker at present are no doubt being watched with barely concealed schadenfreude by some of its competitors in the Internet gambling sector. But the events of the last few months concerning PokerStars and Full Tilt reflect badly on the entire e-gaming market.

All e-commerce is based on consumer trust but within online gambling the dependence on trust is even more crucial. Online gambling companies do not make anything or sell anything physical. They simply hold players’ money and move that money around based on the outcome of events be they sports events or RNG-based events. Trust is a fragile commodity and anything that threatens it affects the entire e-gaming sector.

Look at recent events involving PokerStars and FullTilt from the ordinary European players’ point of view.

One Friday evening (European time) in April 2011 they logged into their account only to find that the US Department of Justice had seized the domain name.

Then for FullTilt players, many were faced with a “system update” message at the end of June 2011 saying the system is down and giving an email address as a point of contact.

Most players in Europe simply do not follow regulatory events as closely as those working in the industry do, so these events would have been both confusing and worrying.

Both FullTilt and PokerStars are very high profile e-gaming firms in the UK, widely advertising on television and in print, as well as sponsoring televised poker tournaments. Regardless of the reality of the situation, many consumers will take the attitude that if it can happen to these two high-profile e-gaming websites, why shouldn’t it happen to any other gambling site? This in turn may influence consumer behaviour on e-gaming sites and their trust in them – maybe keeping lower amounts of funds in their accounts, for example, or hesitating to deposit funds at all.

For consumers there is always a sense of anxiety when a business’ website experiences trouble – not just in e-gaming but any sector. This sense of anxiety is heightened when it is an “Internet only” business without a high-street presence.

It is Gambling Consultancy assessment that a “clicks and mortar” strategy will be the most beneficial in years to come. This strategy could mean betting shops on the high-street, casinos, bingo halls, or, of course, lottery outlets. A state lottery is often a brand highly trusted by consumers and with an extensive presence on the high-street. They will be well-placed to take advantage of the “clicks and mortar strategy”.

Many former “offshore” online gambling companies have undergone a Damascene conversion in the last few years. They now clamour to be regulated and taxed by every government in Europe rather than enjoy the benefits of low-tax offshore jurisdictions. As such, they have lost all the advantages they had over their land-based counterparts. If you are going to be taxed as highly as a land-based gambling operation why not get some of the benefits of a land-based business too and get a presence on the high-street to give consumers greater trust in your brand?

Just Move On – Get Over It

I recently read an article stating, “For closure in a relationship you should JUST MOVE ON when your ex says it’s over.” JUST MOVE ON, huh. The article further stated that yes it sounds harsh and the discomfort will not just go away, but over time you will GET OVER IT. I cannot comprehend how you get over loving someone. (Do not make me go into detail) I have not reached that level of understanding. Getting over love would mean it was not LOVE in the first place. Oh! That could be that ‘people love’ I talk about. Just fling people around at one’s leisure.

There are countless books, EXPERTS and people that agree and have reworked the GET OVER IT message one thousand times over. I supposed perhaps that it is easier to shut down and resist our feelings than deal with them at their core. Dealing with emotions would force you to think and possibly improve your position. Addressing your flaws would hold you accountable for your actions. Mmph. Now why would you want to do that? Funny huh? Author Guy Finely said it perfectly. He said, “Imagine how different life would be if we understood that nothing happens to us that is not sent our way to help us learn more about the eternal nature of love.”

Choosing to disregard a person is a cold and irresponsible way of handling a delicate life. As the receiver of that fear how would that feel to you? Sure, some people choose to walk away from a relationship for whatever reason, in silence. Some lie their way out because the damage is done and they do not know what else to do. Others become violent. And then there is that ½ percent that chooses to STAND and face adversity with a desire to learn and understand their errors. That would be me. When I am stuck it is because I know that there is unfinished business or unspoken thoughts left to address within. Any effort to reconnect conveying all that you have learned and to learn from others if they would be open to teach is reason to appeal to anyone who has wronged you or vice versa.

Our image reflects who we are. Is the image you have presented and are presenting to others the one you want to leave with their Spirit? I would prefer to leave a vibrant image of myself behind. What this message really is about is showing respect, telling the truth, and valuing delicate human life. It is about cultivating genuine friendships. I repeat I learned the hard way.

It’s also about the next Spirit(s) that you decide to travel with internally. A soul created with emotions–someone’s mother/father, sister/brother, auntie/uncle, cousin/friend…etc. He/She is important to others. He/She deserves to be presented with your best because what you present is all he/she has to go on. And, when someone takes time to show you love in any form, it is better to communicate your honest feelings even when they are not mutual, that way messages are clear. After all we are not here to crush each others Spirits, we were intended to inspire and hold each other up on our shoulders. I am telling you something I know to be true. I am a very intuitive woman.

A DIAMOND NUGGET:

Our journey’s are not bridged together overnight. We detour, go left and right, in circles, and turn corners before we come to any understanding. Terrence Howard stated in an article, “I have to look at people a little longer and dig a little deeper and see where their heart is. From perception comes understanding and that leads to a road of wisdom. But even that is tempered with a bit of fear.” I can relate. I care for people out of instruction, knowing, and out of pure love. And the only way I am able to do this consistently is because I believe in God’s power, I believe in you, and I believe in me. Give someone a chance. Better yet, give yourself a chance to truly enter one of lifes’ greatest mysteries, LOVE.

Road Rage in the Movies Pt 2: The Road Warrior Pt 2 (1981)

Max sees his chance when the group inside the compound send out several vehicles in every direction to try to outrun their antagonizers and hopefully find some help. Max and the gyro pilot watch as one group from the compound are immediately overtaken by members of Humongus’ gang. Max manages to save one of the dying survivors and makes a deal with him for some gasoline. But shortly after Max gets the survivor back inside the compound, he dies and the deal is nullified. Seen as just another untrustworthy scavenger, Max is about to be put to death on the orders of the groups leader, Papagallo, portrayed by Micheal Preston, when the Humongus and his cohorts return with the remainder of the riders who were sent to get help earlier. Some still barely alive, they won’t be for long.

Once again, the Humongus makes the same offer as before. Papagallo and the others discuss frantically what their options may be. There are not many. They want to make a run for it, but without the precious gas, what’s the point. Max becomes the key when he explains to them that during his travels, he came up on a tanker that could haul the gasoline for them. Papagallo strikes a new deal with Max to get to the tanker and bring it back in one piece.

When night falls Max leaves the compound with all the gas he can carry, He stealthily sneaks past the Humongus’ gang’s campsite and in a few hours makes it to the tanker. He fills it with gas and drives it straight through the camp of the Humongus. With the help of the gyro pilot in his copter, some fancy driving and a little luck he’s able to get inside the compound. The tanker is in much need of repair but the groups main mechanic can fix it for the long and dangerous trip ahead. Papagallo tries to talk Max into joining them for the journey, but Max refuses. He collects the gas promised him in the deal and leaves.

Upon seeing his departure from the compound, the Humongus send several raiders after him. Max makes it to the open road and seems to be more than able to outrun his pursuers. But the gang has their vehicles rigged with nitrous oxide which when activated gives their cars twice their original speed. They catch up to Max and smash in his windshield, causing him to hydroplane off the road and into a small canyon.

The Painter’s Brush

The brush of a painter is an important tool through which the artist wields his power and expresses his emotions. The canvass, the oil, and all the other painting media are important too, but these leave the artist when the work is done.

Only the paint brushes stay, faithful and willing to participate in the making of the next masterpiece.

The stiff brushes are used for the majority of painting tasks and it comes in three shapes: the round, the flat and the filbert. For all ye art beginners, filbert is a shape that is rounded at the base and tapers to a point at the tip. Stiff brushes are made of hog bristles but there are also synthetic bristles available that can make acceptable results. Naturally, many painters prefer the genuine article.

The soft brushes are used for putting in fine details. Painters agree that the best soft brushes are the ones made of sable. Since sable brushes are expensive, there are substitutes available. But the brush strokes made using these replacements are not as good as the ones made by the sable-made soft brush.

There is also a kind of brush made of either sable or hog hair. It is called a fan-head brush and it is needed to seamlessly blend paint on the canvas.

We have heard of painters not taking a bath during a painting marathon, and there are painters known for having chaotic studios. But many painters liked to be organized and the most cared for of their tools are the brushes. Besides, many painters believed, though no scientific data supports this, that used but well cared-for brushes perform better than new ones.

The first rule in caring for paint brushes is to never use them to mix paint. There are painting knives to do this task. Another important thing to remember is to never stand the brushes, especially the soft ones, with the point down in the jar. Those expensive hair or bristles are sensitive and may be bent permanently.

When a painter mentors you to place just the right amount of paint on the brush, he wasn’t thinking about saving the paint. He was trying to save the brush. Too much paint on it will clog the ferrules, the part that holds the hair or bristles together. If clogged, you have to clean it and cannot avoid parting the hairs. If done too often, the brush ultimately become useless.

Lastly, brushes should be cleaned as soon as you are done using them. You may use turpentine with soap and water. For soft brushes, these can be dipped in milk and allowed to dry for a couple of days. Remember to keep the tips up.

Macrame Knots, An Art Form Of Patience

Taking a normal everyday room and transforming it into a room that will amaze visitors is the dream of most homeowners. The use of art, made with macrame knots, is a great way to achieve this dream. The art you place in your house should say something about you and your personality. With so many choices of artwork done with macrame knots, there is no doubt that you can find something that matches your personality and style. The best thing is that all these works of art are handmade, so they are all one of kind creations and are sure to amaze your guest the next time they enter your house.

These pieces of art can be found online and can also be made by anyone who can tie knots. Now I know most of you are thinking about the macrame that your grandmothers used to make. I know that anytime I think of macrame the first thing that come to my head are the plant hangers from the late 70′s early 80′s. But the art I am speaking of is made using materials that include cotton, hemp, nylon and manila rope. The artist creating this art uses these different materials to wrap bottles, make floor mats, bell ringers, coasters, needle cases etc… With the variety of materials used, it is not hard to find items made with macrame knots to coordinate with any decor you have in your house. These art pieces can then be placed in your home to add some special touches especially any room with a nautical decor.

It is nice to have decorations that can accent any shelf, wall or bar. Wouldn’t a Rum bottle covered with macrame knots look 100 times better sitting on a bar or shelf than the same old, drab bottle. Imagine you pour a drink for a guest from a rope covered bottle, then hand them their drink to place on a coaster made of rope, all this after they walked into your house and wiped their feet on your floor mat made of rope as well. Finally a home decor that is truly one of a kind, and now the Jones will be keeping up with you instead of the other way around. What we all want is a room that has a beautiful focal point and art made with macrame knots will create that focal point in any room. All these intricate pieces of art will add an ambiance to your space and people will want to know where you got them from. The next time you buy art work to decorate your house remember that Macrame Knots are not your grandmothers art anymore.

Does Your Car Engine Backfire?

Does your vehicle engine run ok?

Or does it cut-out on you sometimes when your are going to visit your in-laws?

Does it *spit* and *sputter* and *backfire*, then start running ok, again?

Symptoms of this nature can be several things.

o You could have a sparkplug wire shorting out.

o You could have an electrical wire shorting out.

o You may have some water in the fuel tank.

Let’s take the most common of these three mentioned.

Over the years you cannot keep they fuel tank full at all times.

With a fuel tank half full, the upper part can cause condensation.

This condensation will slowly build up and run down into the bottom of the tank.

When you start to pass another vehicle you call upon the fuel pump to give me more gasoline.

The fuel pump starts working overtime and picks up more fuel, then the water goes into the line along with the gasoline.

The fuel filter catches this water and since water is heavier than gasoline, it drops to the bottom of the filter.

After awhile though, you come up behind me, and I’m not driving quite as fast as you would like to go, so you floorboard it and go around me.

What happens when you floorboard it?

Right, you are asking for more fuel.

With the filter partially full of condensation, water, some of it gets picked up into the fuel line and goes to the carburetor or injector.

“Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug, Pow!”

Purr, purr, purr.

See what happens?

You can solve this problem, most of the time, by changing the fuel filter two or three times a year.

Now, if you have just filled up at the pump, and your car starts acting this way, you may have to take the fuel tank off and clean it out.

Or, pay someone else to do it!

The Benefits of Music Education to Children

Introduction

Music is a very powerful subject – It has been used since the Greek times for healing, communication, relaxation and for enjoyment. Even before birth we are aware of our mother’s heartbeat and during infancy are relaxed by the song of a lullaby. Every day everybody hears some form of musical pitch or rhythm and it can even be found in nature such as how birds communicate through a song-like speech.

Music is such a powerful force, it creates deep emotions in humans – it is played at weddings for happiness, in horror films and during war for fear and at home for happiness and because of this lends itself to relaxation, stress relief and health therapy – and the connection between music, body, and soul has even been shown to improve physical and mental health.

Skills such as working in teams, communication, self-esteem, creative thinking, calmer attitudes, imagination, discipline, study skills and invention are learnt and improved through the study of music and by focusing on the fact that young children are mostly highly receptive to pitch and rhythm – one of the main ways a child learns its language – that we can drive education in music to children to help them with benefits ranging success in society and in life.

“We believe the skills the arts teach -creative thinking, problem-solving, risk-taking, teamwork and communications – are precisely the tools the workforce of tomorrow will need. If we don’t encourage students to master these skills through quality arts instruction today, how can we ever expect them to succeed in their highly competitive business careers tomorrow?”

-Richard Gurin

Chief Executive Officer, Binney and Smith, maker of Crayola crayons

Music is a part of our society and a part of all communities – every human culture uses music to carry forward its ideas and ideals. A study of the arts provides children with an internal glimpse of other cultures and teaches them to be empathetic towards the people of these cultures. This development of compassion and empathy, as opposed to developing greed and a selfish attitude, provides bridges across different cultures that lead to a respect of other races at an early age.

Music has a great value to our economy – it creates jobs, increase’s tax base, boosts tourism and spurs growth in related businesses. Music study develops skills that are necessary in the workplace such as teamwork skills and discipline – during musical performances all members must work together to create the sounds they wish to achieve and for this regular practice is also required. Music favors working and ‘doing’ as opposed to observing, and these are the ethics employers are looking for.

Because of music’s ability to relax, calm and heal, and its optimal platform for emotions, the involvement with music helps to carve brighter attitudes – more optimism towards the future, less TV and non productive activities, low use of alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs and desire to develop individual abilities.

Music requires study skills, communication skills, and cognitive skills and as these are learnt and developed they expand the student’s abilities in other academic areas and help them become better students. – Students with coursework/experience in music performance and music appreciation scored higher on the SAT: students in music performance scored 57 points higher on the verbal and 41 points higher on the math, and students in music appreciation scored 63 points higher on verbal and 44 points higher on the math, than did students with no arts participation. — College-Bound Seniors National Report: Profile of SAT Program Test Takers. Princeton, NJ: The College

Entrance Examination Board, 2001.

The discipline of music, particularly through participation in ensembles, helps students learn to work effectively in the school environment without resorting to violent or inappropriate behavior – According to statistics compiled by the National Data Resource Center, students who can be classified as “disruptive” (based on factors such as frequent skipping of classes, times in trouble, in-school suspensions, disciplinary reasons given, arrests, and drop-outs) total 12.14 percent of the total school population. In contrast, only 8.08 percent of students involved in music classes meet the same criteria as “disruptive.” — Based on data from the NELS:88 (National Education Longitudinal Study), second follow-up, 1992..

Many studies have been conducted on the effects of music in the brain. Scientists say that children who are exposed to music or those who play an instrument do better in school than those who don’t. Recent research suggests exposure to music may benefit a child’s reading age, IQ and the development of certain parts of the brain.

It can be shown that some measures of a child’s intelligence are increased with music instruction – a connection between music and spatial intelligence (the ability to perceive the world accurately and to form mental pictures of things) helps people to visualize and imagine solutions. This helps people to solve problems creatively and is critical to the sort of thinking necessary for solving mathematical problems and even general daily tasks.

“The musician is constantly adjusting decisions on tempo, tone, style, rhythm, phrasing, and feeling–training the brain to become incredibly good at organizing and conducting numerous activities at once. Dedicated practice of this orchestration can have a great payoff for lifelong attention skills, intelligence, and an ability for self-knowledge and expression.” — Ratey John J., MD. A User’s Guide to the Brain. New York: Pantheon Books, 2001.

Along with mental development music study can support the brains physical development – it has been indicated that musical training physically develops the parts of the brain known to be involved with processing language and reasoning, and can actually wire the brain’s circuits in specific ways. Memory can be improved through the linking of familiar songs with objects just as linking images can – past memories and emotions can be triggered by audio.

“Why arts in education? Why education at all? The purpose of education is not simply to inform but to enrich and enlighten, to provide insights into life as it has been led and as it may be led. No element of the curriculum is better suited to that task than arts education.”

-David Kearns

Now retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Xerox Corporation

Ideally we want our children to experience “success” throughout life itself. The benefits may be psychological, spiritual and physical and with the challenge of making life meaningful and fulfilled and to reach a higher state of development by participating in music we develop self expression which in turn leads to self esteem – ultimately helping us to succeed at these challenges.

“Casals says music fills him with the wonder of life and the ‘incredible marvel’ of being a human. Ives says it expands his mind and challenges him to be a true individual. Bernstein says it is enriching and ennobling. To me, that sounds like a good cause for making music an integral part of every child’s education. Studying music and the arts elevates children’s education, expands students’ horizons, and teaches them to appreciate the wonder of life.”

– U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley, July 1999.

Conclusion

Music is a powerful tool and as seen can dramatically improve and enrich everybody. It makes sense to push music education and to allow young generations to gain these wonderful benefits – higher intelligence through increased creative thinking, problem solving and physically stronger brains, a higher perception of life including better attitudes, strong desires to achieve and fulfil and higher self esteem, better developed discipline, study skills, concentration, communication and team skills which transfer from education through to career and a better understanding of communities and society

Wise Quotes and Sayings on Building Trust and Friendships

It is difficult to make friends, and it is harder to find real ones. It is as difficult to keep those real friends. You will know who your real friends are in times of need. But sometimes, the people who needs our help are not the true friends we thought they were.

I remember one of the wise quotes about friendship – “You are lucky to have three real friends left when you are 50.” While you are young you gain many friends. As you get older, you get to know all of them. Some of them will go, others will stay, and others you will shoo away.

When you make friends, it is also important to build trust. Trust is something that is difficult to establish. It is very fragile that needs to be taken care of. Once trust breaks or shatters into pieces, it is very difficult to rebuild it.

Always believe and remember the wise quotes to live by, sayings and teachings about trust and friendship that you hear or encounter. They are often times true and they are there to help you be the best person you want to be.

A Few Wise Quotes and Sayings to Remember

• Background

Take time to get to know the family and friends of your friend, as well as their relationships history. It is not bad to find out about their pasts. Make meaningful conversations to get these information first hand, then ask around. Take time to find out if they have been in caught in trouble with the law before, and if they have any charges or convictions on their record.

• Reputation

When you meet people, before you befriend them, find out what type of reputation they have. Ask around and find out what other people think of them. You will see if they are liked or disliked by many. A person’s reputation can tell you a lot about them. This is as equally important because “you are who your friends are”.

• Qualities

Spend some time going over your friends and see what qualities each of them have. Knowing their qualities will help you decide which of your friends will be true to you. Those people who have bad qualities will most likely do you and influence you on bad things. They are most likely to be a bad person and an untrue friend.

• Choose your Friends Carefully

Remember the first three when you want to become friends with people.Do not make friends with people who have bad reputation. Do not make friends with with someone that you just met and know nothing about. Observe the people around your friend and you will learn a lot about them.

• Trust

Do not give your trust to your friends until they have proven their trust to you. Do not tell them your secrets. Only tell these secrets to people that you already know you can trust because trusting the wrong people may give you difficulties. You will always encounter that someone that

• Always Trust Your Instincts.

Always remember to do what you think and feel is the right thing to do. Trust your instincts.Follow your heart and do what you believe is the right thing to do. If you believe a person is bad and will be untrue to you, then stay away from them. Your instincts are usually right, so you should trust them.

Daily Nuggets Cafe Lounge – 2

TUESDAY BREEZE

My husband and I had a wonderful evening last night. We wrestled the whole night in our lovemaking in delight so that we slept soundly and happy. So today I was able to wake up early and had the ample time to prepare his healthy breakfast.

As soon as my husband had gone to work, I went ahead to take care of my needs to meet the girls.

Walking through Daily Nuggets Cafe Lounge this Tuesday morning was a breeze. I was happy. A gentle win had kissed my soft skin…

As I entered the cafe, “Good morning Tonette. How are you?”

All smiling I greeted her and then I went straight to our favorite spot and took my seat nearby the window where I could easily look on my three girlfriends to arrive one by one.

“I feel good, thank you, I’ll be with you in a minute”, Tonette smiled back and then went to the other customer to take his order.

I do not mind to come 5 minutes before 9 o’clock in the morning because the cafe is just located across my house. And yesterday was the first time I came late because of my love-blooming-episode with my husband.

After five minutes, I saw Pete parked her latest model Honda Civic Sedan in front of the cafe, while Cham went down from her husband’s red 458 Italia Ferrari. Sporty Gorge, whose house is just 5 blocks away from the cafe, parked her Huffy Bike near Pete’s car. All of them greeted each other in cheers and then looked at me through the glass window. They smiled at me as I waved back to them.

Everyone in the cafe including me, turned our heads toward these three beautiful women who were jollying as they approached the entrance door.

“Good morning girls! You all look great!” I kissed each of them on cheek to cheek.

Then Tonnete came to our table and offered us their new recipe, a “cheese cake con apple sauce”.

We all agreed to try it with Cafe Americano.

After a while we proceeded to shoot the breeze.

Gorge asked us, what she should wear on her husband’s inaugural party as a Government Official. I suggested her to wear a very sophisticated gown yet elegant and sexy in fashion. Pete and Cham did not argue.

Gorge was pleased, “Okay guys, would you all be free to come with me this Saturday and help me in my shopping spree?”

In chorus, we answered, “Sure, girlfriend.”

Gorge added, “Afterwards we will all go to have a body spa and it’s gonna be my treat.”

In chorus again with matching giggles, “Yihey! That is cool!” As we all winked to each other.

Cham eyes twinkled when she began to talk about her 4-year-old precious girl.

“I was surprised this morning before Charmaine went to her school. When her school bus arrived, she came to me in a rush and after she had kissed me, she said”…

“Mom here is your hair-clip.” She gave me her little angel sweet smile and then got on her school bus.”

“Guys, do you have any idea what she just handed me?” And then Cham started already to burst in laughter.

“Your gold hair-clip with 90 little diamonds in circled?”, Pete blurted her guess.

“It was not!” Cham continued to laugh and giggle.

“Then tell us! What was it?” Gorge and I had asked her in duet.

“You would not believe it, because I did not believe my eyes either when I saw it myself…”

“Gosh! My little girl called it my hair-clip…when it was a pencil…?”

We all giggled and got so curious… Why would her girl identify a pencil as a hair-clip?

Cham said, “I got curious too and a bit disappointed but you know, I found out later that she’s a very smart kid. She has a very retentive memory. When she left, I put down the pencil on the book shelves and I was about to get ready and take my shower when my husband called me from our bedroom to get him a pair of socks. I thought to just get him a fresh pair of socks from my laundry area. My hair was loosen and I wanted to move freely and quickly. So I picked up the pencil and used it to clip my hair up…And there it was… my curiosity had been answered. My little girl must have noticed me doing that all the time around the house, hehehehe…

Cham continued, “My husband looked puzzled. It was the first time I handed him his pair of socks without even whining…instead I was smiling at him from ear to ear…and then he understood it, when I told him the story afterwards. He is very proud with our little girl.”

We were all amazed and had fun with Cham’s story about her little girl. We are all proud of her too.

As I breezed back to my home, I was still smiling about little Charmaine. She really is a darling.

…And hmmm, the cheesecake con apple sauce? It was delicious! This weekend, I will ask my husband to bake one for me and for the boys.
